Privacy Policy

Welcome to ZapSubs. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a safe and secure experience while using our service. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices concerning the information we handle.

1. Accounts and Personal Data

You can use ZapSubs' free path without creating an account (start at /generate). Optional accounts are provided through Clerk for Pro subscriptions, saved projects, and signed-in features. When you create an account, Clerk may process your email and related authentication data according to their privacy policy and ours.

We do not sell your personal information. Account data is used only to provide the service (authentication, billing via Stripe when you subscribe, and support).

2. File Processing

When you upload a video or audio file to generate subtitles, your file is sent to our secure servers for the sole purpose of processing. The processing is fully automated and involves no human intervention.

• Temporary Storage: Your file is stored temporarily on our servers only for the duration of the subtitle generation process.
• Automatic Deletion: Once the subtitles have been generated, your original file is permanently and immediately deleted from our servers. We do not keep any copies.

3. Subtitle Data

The subtitle data (SRT/VTT files) generated from your file is stored temporarily in your browser's local storage to allow you to preview, edit, and download it. This data is not sent to our servers and remains on your device until your browser cache is cleared.

4. Analytics and Advertising

We use Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Google Search Console to understand how our website is used, display relevant advertisements, and monitor our site's performance in search results. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics helps us understand website usage patterns and improve our service. It collects anonymous information about:

• Pages you visit and time spent on each page
• How you arrived at our website (referring sites, search terms)
• Your device type, browser, and general location (city/country level)
• Your interactions with our website features

Google AdSense

Google AdSense displays advertisements on our website and may use cookies to personalize ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the Internet.

Google Search Console

Google Search Console is a free service that helps us monitor and maintain our site's presence in Google search results. It provides insights into how our website appears in search and helps us optimize for better visibility. This service does not collect personal information from visitors.

Data Collection and Privacy

• Third-Party Cookies: Both Google Analytics and AdSense may set cookies on your device. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
• Anonymous Data: We do not collect personally identifiable information. The data collected is anonymous and aggregated.
• Third-Party Processing: Data collection is handled entirely by Google according to their Privacy Policy.
• Opt-Out Options: You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or opt out of personalized ads at Google Ad Settings.

5. Payments

Free features do not require payment. Pro subscriptions are billed through Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our servers; payment processing is handled by Stripe under their terms and privacy policy.

6. Hosting Provider and Data Processing

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. ("Vercel"). To provide a secure and reliable service, Vercel's infrastructure automatically collects some data from visitors. This is a standard and necessary function of web hosting and is governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy.

• Data Processed by Vercel: Vercel may collect technical data such as visitor IP addresses, system configuration information, and geolocation (at the city/country level). This data is essential for network security, DDoS mitigation, traffic routing, and compliance with legal obligations.
• Our Use of Vercel Services: We do not use Vercel's optional Analytics or other tracking services that would identify or track individual users across different websites. The data processed by Vercel is for infrastructure purposes only.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and we encourage you to review it periodically.
